TN Health Minister Ma Subramaniam honours Dr BGanesh

Tamil Nadu Medical Council has conferred Medical Council

Award 2024 on Dr B Ganesh, a leading ophthalmic surgeon

and Medical Director of Jaya Eye Care Centre of Mandaveli

for professional excellence and exemplary service in the field

of medicine at Hotel Hyatt Regency last week.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam presented the

award on Dr B Ganesh and congratulated him for his

achievements and public service.

Supriya Sahu, additional chief secretary health and family

welfare department and Dr A Murugananthan, convener of

Tamil Nadu Medical Council also congratulated Dr Ganesh for

the award. Dr V Kamaraja, registrar of Tamil Nadu Medical

Council spoke.

The Tamil Nadu Medical Council is a statutory body formed

under the provisions of the Madras Medical Registration Act

of 1914. On 12th May,1914, the Madras Medical Council was

started before the First World War by then Governor-General

for the Madras Presidency

This state body is the Tamil Nadu unit of the Medical Council

of India. It does all the works of the Medical Council of India

except the Medical Education. It recognizes and awards best

doctors every year based on their professional excellence

and public service

The Tamil Nadu Medical Council had invited nominations for

the Medical Council Awards-2024 for Medical Excellence

from eminent eligible doctors coming under various

categories.

The meritorious doctors among the nominations will be

selected for the “Medical Council Awards-2024 for Medical

Excellence” as per the criteria scoring followed by the

Selection Committee of the Tamil Nadu Medical Council.

The applicant must have registered in Tamil Nadu Medical

Council and have unblemished moral, ethical and

professional conducts and no pending criminal cases against

them.

Members of the selection committee of the Tamil Nadu

Medical Council evaluated each of the eligible applications

individually under various parameters defined. The scores of

all the members will be consolidated and listed. The best

candidate in each category will be given the Award. 

The applicant must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience

in that category. Additional experience will have advantage.

The overall good opinion on the ethical, moral, professional

stature of the individual is a must
