Stalin lays foundation for new schemes

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated five completed
projects worth Rs 14.66 Crores and laid the foundation stone for 20
new projects at Rs 256 Crores under the Housing and Urban
Development Department at Fort St. George at the Secretariat.
The inaugurated projects, to be executed by the Chennai Metropolitan
Development Authority (CMDA) include modernization of libraries in
Ashok Nagar at Rs 12.74 Crores, Mahakavi Bharathiyar Nagar at Rs 7.18
Crores, Indira Nagar (Rs 4.26 Crores Raja Annamalaipuram at Rs 3.49
Crores), and Kavinger Bharathidasan Road in Alwarpet at Rs 12.55
Crores
He also laid foundation for four modern fitness parks built at a cost of
Rs 11.46 Crores. These parks feature open-air sports fields children’s
play areas, yoga platforms, green lawns, walking paths, high-mast
lighting, and parking facilities.
The Somasundaram Sports Ground in Thyagaraja Nagar, upgraded at a
cost of Rs 3.20 Crores, now boasts improved facilities for cricket,
basketball, volleyball, badminton, and table tennis
The CMDA is actively involved in strengthening Chennai’s metropolitan
infrastructure to meet future demands of its growing population,
implementing urban development policies, and executing
comprehensive master plans and detailed development schemes, he
said
Development of co-working spaces within libraries in Anna Nagar at Rs
15.50 Crores and Gandhi Nagar at Rs 24.69 Crores Construction of a
community hall at Harrington Road, Egmore at Rs 13.72 Crores and
multi-purpose centers at Luz Church Road in Mylapore at Rs 8.25 Crores
and Adambakkam at Rs 9.91 Crores
The plan includes up gradation of Chetpet Eco Park at Rs 20.17 Crores.
The event was attended by P.K. Sekarbabu, Minister for Hindu Religious
and Charitable Endowments and Chairman of CMDA; N.
Muruganandam Chief Secretary; Kakarla Usha, Additional Chief
Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department; A.
Sivagnanam, Chief Executive Officer of CMDA; and other senior
government officials.
