Ganesh Chathurthi gala in Mylapore
Hundreds of Ganesha idols – made from different kinds of raw
materials such as candies, currencies, red bananas and what have you
have decorated the streets of Mylapore from Sept 7 Vinayakar
Chathurthi Day.
The famous Navasakthi Vinayagar temple in Luz Corner wore a festive
look with special alankarams, abhishekam and archana. Devotees
thronged the temple from the morning causing a near traffic jam in the
neighbourhood. The metro work dampen the festivities
Next to the temple was a huge Ganesha idol erected by Bharatiya
Janata Party and Hindu Munnani. Members of Maratta Maha Sabha
and Education Fund in Alwarpet celebrated Ganesh Chathurthi on Sept
8 and youngsters participated in large numbers. K. Rishi, a -12-year old
boy and a student of Harikatha masters Vishaka Hari and Dushyanth
Sridhar gave an impressive Harikatha on Ganesha Prabhavam
The Uchista Maha Ganapathy temple and Adhi Sivasakthi Vinayagar
temple in Mandaveli celebrated the event with special pooja and
alankarams and a large number of devotees attended the celebrations.
