Dr JSR gives away prizes to winners of TMS competitions

Dr J S Rajkumar, chairman of Lifeline Hospital Group and a social activist gave away prizes to winners of the Navaratri Golu competition 2025 and children’s painting competition at TAG Dakshinamurthi Auditorium at PS Higher Secondary School in Mylapore on Dec 21.
He gave the cash prize of Rs 10,000 worth of gift vouchers redeemable at Srirangam Nachimuthu Textiles Mylapore to the first prize winner Vijay Rajan of Mylapore who had kept 101 steps with 25 themes with a six-month preparation and used AI for this year’s golu.
The second prize of Rs 5,000 worth of gift certificates redeemable at Srirangam Nachimuthu Textiles was given to J N Janani. Dr Rajkumar and his wife Dr Chitrakala Rajkumar gave away the prizes.
The third prize of Rs 2,500 worth of gift certificates redeemable at Srirangam Nachimuthu Textiles in Mylapore was presented by Dr J S Rajkumar jointly to Geetha Ramu, wife of late Mylapore famous advocate the late K Ramu, and Supraja Vishnu of Salai Street in Mylapore.
Ten winners were chosen for consolation prize Rs 1,000 worth of gift vouchers redeemable at Giri Trading Agency Mylapore and they were handed over by Dr Rajkumar and Dr Chitrakala Rajkumar.
The consolation prize winners are – V Rashmi, Girija Guruprasad, Sriranjitha Vasudevan, Arivukannu, Vijayalakshmi Sivakumar, Jayanthi, Neeraja, Revathi, Janani and Aandal.
Dr Rajkumar and Dr Chitrakala Rajkumar presented certificates and medals to all the children who took part in the Children’s Painting and Sketching competition. The weekly had an overwhelming response to the competition from the surrounding schools
Dr J S Rajkumar also released the new monthly magazine from the House of Thiru Mylais Star – The Progress – Chennai’s interactive monthly - which will be distributed every month all over Chennai including airport and rail stations. The first copy was received by Vikash Dhanabal, managing director of Srirangam Nachimuthu Textiles in Mylapore.
The couple inquired each and every child who came up to the stage and even started playing with the tiny tots who ambled on to the podium
Dr Rajkumar honoured Lakshmi Kannan, director of Jathiswaralaya and a member of the jury that selected the winners
He also honoured the dancers of Jathiswaralaya headed by Guru Lakshmi Kannan who had earlier presented an enchanting one hour Bharatanatyam performance to the cheer of the audience.
The other two judges Bharatanatyam gurus Raghi Janardhanan and Maithreyi Rajagopalan could not be present. Dr Rajkumar also honoured Vikash Dhanabal, managing director of Srirangam Nachimuthu Textiles in Mylapore
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr Rajkumar congratulated the news weekly for keeping the Indian culture and tradition vibrant by conducting various competitions. He said Tamil Nadu was and is the land of Nayanmars and Azhwars and had contributed immensely to promoting bakthi from time immemorial
Raj Thaneeghaivel publisher and editor of the weekly was present, Nalini Raj Thaneeghaivel executive director and Vadivelu, chairman of the group were also present.
Those attended include Dr P R Venkatasubramanian, leading vageeyakarar, K Mohammed Ibrahim Khaleel, former regional director of ICCR-Chennai, S G Sridharan, former branch manager of IOB and Vishnu Ramu, a leading advocate of Mylapore.
Prakash M Swamy, editor-in-chief of the weekly welcomed the gathering and A V Ganapathy, chief manager (marketing) of the weekly proposed a vote of thanks.
